We’re surrounded by smells,
most of which we are unaware of;
the neck of our lover,
the path leading up to our home
the smell of our childs’ hair,
the scent hovering over the living room couch.
These scents are embedded so deeply,
they awaken such an immediate, strong response
-as close to us as it gets,
so close, we don’t always notice their presence
nor the effect they have on us.

However, if 20 years from today,
someone were to hand you a capsule of any of the scents mentioned above,
In a wave of nostalgia you would be transported
to a place buried deep in your soul,
still alive, only forgotten.

In My art, I create a space for this encounter.
A space that offers words for the connection that occurs
between us and the air that surrounds us
the scents that awaken us.
